Relation In Pursuance Of Books The Canterville Ghost and Other Stories

Alternate cover edition of ISBN 9780486419251 Renowned for his poetry, plays, essays, and conversational skills, Oscar Wilde also wrote scintillating works of short fiction. This volume includes four fine examples, including The Canterville Ghost, the comical tale of a spirit who terrorized the residents of Canterville Chase for three centuries. When the manor is acquired by a no-nonsense American family with no use for the supernatural, hilarity ensues. Three other stories feature "The Sphinx Without a Secret," a tale of an enigmatic woman who carries a mystery's key to her grave; "The Model Millionaire," recounting the exploits of a "delightful, ineffectual young man with a perfect profile and no profession"; and "Lord Arthur Savile's Crime," in which an aristocrat learns that he is destined to commit murder. Rounding out the volume are Wilde's lyrical Poems in Prose: "The Artist," "The Doer of Good," "The Disciple," "The Master," "The House of Judgment," and "The Teacher of Wisdom."

Piece Appertaining To Books The Canterville Ghost and Other Stories
This story is so very funny!!! A true work of its witty and extremely intelligent creator, one of the greatest men to have ever lived on the earth. It is Gothic, indeed, but it is a parody of Gothic. You will have a very good time, if you read it. The rest of the stories which are included in the same book are also interesting and entertaining.

I decided to read this one because I remember loving that old Canterville Ghost movie with a young Neve Campbell and a younger Patrick Stewart. And because of that, I was thinking this would be filled with fun stories.Yay!Um. Yeah, not really.I realize that it was completely my fault for going into it with expectations based on cotton candy and daydreams, but this was pretty much just full up with semi-depressing (blessedly short) morality tales. And I completely get why it's called The

I was completely unfamiliar with Oscar Wilde's short stories before I picked up this book--only ever learned about his plays in school. Really, I was only interested in reading "The Canterville Ghost" because I'd heard it was good, but I found this collection at Half Price Books and figured I may as well read the rest while I was at it.It was split up into three sections: "The Happy Prince and Other Tales" (containing his fairy tales), "A House of Pomegranates" (further fairy tales which were

It's Oscar Wilde, what do you expect. I will definitely read his fairy tales to my hypothetical children.

Oscar Wilde's writing is great

Lord Arthur Savile's Crime: 3/5The Sphinx without a Secret: 2.5/5The Canterville Ghost: 4.5/5The Model Millionaire: 4/5

Even though this book is short, the story is complex and makes me think it through. I think it is a great book to make predictions with.
