In the year 2036, the world is a very controlled place. Robots owned by a single corporation named IRIS have filled the vast majority of jobs. Nearly everyone works for IRIS subsidies. Wow, this book captivated me from the moment I opened the first chapter and began reading until the very last word; I never wanted to put it down. The author brings you into this futuristic world so smoothly and courageously, using descriptions that are detailed and real. The next thing you know, you, the reader, are part of the story too, because of the realistic way Matthew has drawn you into the narative. There is a lot of action happening throughout and he did a fantastic job of characterThis story hooked me in right away and I couldn't put it down. Super fun and fast paced. Would definitely recommend for fans of Ready Player One, The Red Rising series, and Hitchhiker's Guide. Can't wait for the next book!
I won this book in a giveaway and I wasreally looking forward to reading it. To me, this book felt like it was written for film. It did have me hooked but I think there could have been more about characters. It felt rushed. I would read the sequel just because I want to know where the story goes.3.5 stars from me
I Am Waltz started off well with some quick pacing and interesting themes and visions of what could be our near future. And although I enjoyed Dho's introduction to his world, I found the characters could have used some more development. Kyle was a relatively predictable future-teen and Waltz could have been any android from any book or movie from the last couple of decades. This book was very exciting and quite unpredictable. I felt like the writing and the path that these characters took was very intricate and developed, much more that I had expected from a debut novel. The range of places that the story went was quite vast. This was very well done. For Fans Of: I, robot. Tao (Netflix)
